Loneliness
DID YOU KNOW that there are many bible verses to help comfort us when we are feeling lonely? We can be alone and not feel lonely or we can be in a room full of people and feel very lonely. What is the difference? I go into more detail in Still Standing While on My Knees. There are times when we want to be alone, away from the noise and chaos of the world. When we choose to be alone, it does not bother us. But there are times, maybe first thing in the morning, or dinnertime, or a Sunday afternoon that it really hits us hard and we are missing our spouse and feeling the loneliness of the moment. I believe it is extremely hard going from a couple to being a single. For me, it rears its ugly head at church when I see so many couples and families worshipping together and I feel like the odd man out. In my new neighborhood, there are activities to do, but mostly for couples. Again, I feel like the odd man out. This new normal is hard to get used to. So I pray and ask God to show me in His word how to get through some of these lonely times.
God showed me several verses but my two favorite are from Isaiah and Psalms. Psalm 34:18 states, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Isaiah 41:10 states, “Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” I find it so comforting to know that my Lord is so closee to me especially on those dark days.
I hope these verses encourage you also. And please reach out to me if you want to talk or have any questions or wisdom to share with me. I love hearing on how God is working in your life.
